petition for the in-laws

Hi,

just wanted to know the process for petitioning the in-laws to come here. Wife just passed her citizenship interview. I understand on the day she takes the oathe, she will be able to start the petition process. Here is the question. Once you start the petition application, could her parents still obtain the tourist visa to come vist during the process? or she could get her parents visa to come to vist and then start the petition process and have them wait here ? I guess my question is , can she start the petition while they are here on a tourist visa and wait out the process or she could start the process here while they are here and have them go back to china for the interview or they can stay here for the intervew?....Please help clear up these confusion for me. appreicaite any help.

Wife would file an I-130 for each of her parents.

And yes once a petition parents can still apply for and perhaps get a visitors visa. If it were me I would have them obtain a visit visa before wife files a petition for parents, the visit visa is valid 1 year, and can be easily renewed.
