Yes, the lawyer is correct to a degree; the application does not require to show custody; but for her to go to the US, YOUR WIFE MUST HAVE CUSTODY! You are not getting the full story yet. Your lawyer should tell you to look at the divorce decree; that is the final judgement. You had better look and know.

 

I will be honest, althought it does not mean I am correct. Your thinking is not their [chinese] thinking. But you are completely playing into their hand: "put him at ease" is a western conceit at best. I hope you know what game you could be playing? I said, not that I am correct...

I think both my fiancee and her ex-husband have custody but I am not sure. I will ask her tonight.

My point was: Don't ask: JUST LOOK at the divorce decree. The more you involve people in the issue the worse. JUST LOOK for yourself. Then decide if involving others is needed. JMO.
