timeline for petitioning in-laws to emmigrate to u.s

Hi everyone,

 

Just wondering how long the process will be for the in-laws to emmigrate to u.s once the petition starts. My wife will be eligible for citizenship in about 4 months. and she wants to bring her parents here. Any advice will be appreciated.

Shortly after your spouse becomes a citizen, she can file petitions for parents with copy of naturalization cert attached to show citizenship.

 

Timeline is the same as if bringing a spouse over.

 

File petition to USCIS: 3-6 Months to approve.

USCIS sends to NVC: 2-4 Months processing there. (Doing Electronic processing described at top of Visa forum)

NVC sends to consulate: 1-2 months to interview.

 

Total time: 9-12 months.
