Do you need to file in your state of residence so they are aware of ma

Hello Everyone: My wife is doing fantastic here in America. We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary this past Saturday, she has a new job that she loves, she obtained her driver license and has a car, we are currently looking at homes and just started trying for a baby.

 

My question is; Do we/I need to file anything in the state (Wisconsin) we live in so that they are aware of our marriage?

No, nothing is needed to be filed with regards to marriage status, all states recognize marriages certs from anywhere.

 

As for moving, you do need to file an AR-11 and I-865 anytime you move, be it across the street or across country.

 

AR-11 can be done on-line

I-865 is done by mail.
