I'm sure I'll catch hell for this post too, but what has always agravated me when getting on and off airplanes is the people who check no luggage and carry it all on. Then when you arrive at your destination, it takes 30 - 45 minutes just to get off the airplane. They want to carry it all on, then let em pay, or let them stay seated until everyone that has no carry on get off the plane first!

Most of the airlines will follow suit. Oil has been rising rapidly again. Oil is up $86+ today. Nearly double what it was a year ago.

Five major U.S. airlines are committing to actually not charge a fee for something the sacred carryon bag. American, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, US Airways and JetBlue Airways say no fees for carry ons.

Will Spirit backdown now?

I believe congress is considering legislation to stop airlines from charging for carry on luggage.

I found this in the news page on Google.

On Wednesday, Schumer introduced a bill that would amend the tax code to eliminate a loophole that he and four other senators say allows airlines to avoid taxes on certain fees. That effort came a day after two other senators put forward a bill that would change how the Federal Aviation Administration regulates carry-on baggage fees.

Hope this announcement does not affect the stock market as much as the last "we are the govt and we are here to help you" announcement...
