An interesting and thorough read on how the CCP ties to keep the lid on...

http://www.underminingdemocracy.org/china/

The CCP sometimes fabricates or exaggerates national-level fears precisely for the purpose of distracting attention. Most Chinese people, left to themselves, care much more about their own daily lives than about distant places like Taiwan or Tibet. They wake up in the morning worried more about a corrupt local official than about the Dalai Lama. But when CCP propaganda tells them repeatedly that the wolf-hearted Dalai Lama is splitting the motherland, they tend to embrace the view that it is bad to split the motherland and that the CCP is the standard-bearer in opposing this splitting. The stimulation of a fear that did not previously exist has less to do with actual danger than with the CCP’s need to strengthen its popular image and divert attention from popular complaints. In recent years the CCP has used incidents involving Japan, Tibet, Taiwan, and the United States for this purpose. In the case of Tibet there is evidence that the triggering incidents themselves have been manufactured for the cause.

I can look at our govt. and see both parties doing the same thing - diverting attention from the real problems and trying to gain votes by painting the other party or other countries as being the bad guy.

It would be nice to see the evidence of the incidents being manufactured regarding the case of Tibet or any of the other claims they make in this article.

Looks interesting to me more from the standpoint that a bunch of "self proclaimed experts" seem hell bent to start and flame a Cold War with China.

I talk to my wife about some of this this type stuff I read on the boards and am happy that the greatest majority, I can't seem to find one iota that does but I'm sure it's there somewhere, of it has not much of anything to do in "our" lives.

We are simple folk who own our home, want our son to do well, and to have a simple future. We aren't looking to change anything or make names, or martyrs, for and of, ourselves with our "brilliant intelligence".

Having been brainwashed from the first grade on up that Communism was the devils work and that I should HATE IT... FEAR IT...SEEK TO STOMP IT OUT WITH EXTREME PREDUJICE... KILLING EVERY DIRTY FILTHY FUCKING COMMIE THAT I COULD....I went volunteered to answer my country's call to duty...and damn near died in the process...now I live with nightmares and trauma from the extreme hardcore combat I endured to fight Communism.

And you know what? Two months into my tour in Vietnam I saw that this whole ball of wax I had been brainwashed into was nothing more than a fucking SHAM. I saw that I had been lied to and conditioned to hate and fear the RUssian people and the Chinese people and the North Vietnamese peoples...for WHAT?????

The following ten months of my tour was spent trying to save as many wounded young men like myself as I possibly could. I opted out of the G'damned fucking system, man!!!!! No longer was I a soldier out to kill someone over God knows what, for the sake of a bunch of ignorant, arrogant, and highly corrupt politicians in Washington, DC. Screw those bastards and their lies!!! My mission statement became one of saving every kid I could so he could get the F out of this dumbassed quagmire forced on us by corrupt holier than thou officials for the sake of even more corrupt officials (the South Vietnamese)...Communism, my ASS!!!

For Christsakes, I saw that the South Vietnamese government and the United States government were worse for the South Vietnamese peoples than the the North Vietnamese "Commies". With friends like us, the South Vietnamese peoples sure didn't need any enemies to give them a hard life...we, the United States of America, wearing our faux white hats on our faux white horses and saying that "God" was on our side, as we backed one of the most corrupt governments ever seen, were kicking the South Vietnamese peoples to death with our "arrogant warm caring friendship". An awful lot of those folks would still be alive today with their arms and legs intact, their lives untraumatized if we had never interfered...over some lamed assed excuse called Communism.

Roger, I love your sense of humor, your intelligence, and the fact that you'll make a killing off your many large homes in Hainan and where ever, and I never in my life felt an iota of animosity towards CO's like yourself. As a matter of fact I praised them, and believe it or not, I even went to Washington, DC and walked in two peace marches, BEFORE I volunteered to do my duty. :D I laugh at most of your endless threads like this one about the evils of Communism, because to me, it's like now you are the so called "warrior". :( Write your fight on brother...let's just hope America doesn't nuke those evil Commies in Hainan and the rest before you can make your killing. :)

And, the Dali Lama...good grief, I used to buy into that bullshit about Free Tibet...Tibet got freed when the CIA walked the Dali Lama out of the country. He was nothing more than a puppet of the CIA. Have your ever studied a little deeper into what the Dali Lama was doing in Tibet? :) He was right there with the minority of rich tyrants who treated the whole country as live stock to be used until dead with no regard and no rights for them whatsoever. The Dali Lama, a monk? No one needs the Dali Lama's idea of a religion. That bastard was bought and paid for by the CIA, used as a puppet, and when he was in Tibet he was just as bad for the Tibetans as the rich ruling class...yeah, I'm sure he didn't like to see the Chinese come in and change his insane corrupt way of living....a freakin' monk...MY ASS!! Yeah, lets praise the Dali Lama

I reckon I just see things differently than lots of folks since I was once on the "sharp end of the stick" against "Commies". I feel I got to see a side of America that I never wanted to see. I sometimes wish I had never lost my innocence and seen what the American way is TRULY all about. Folks here think the DOS is corrupt, and it DAMN WELL IS, but the DOS is tame stuff compared to what our leaders can and will do to both our people and peoples from other lands....all in the name of what is right? In whose eyes? Ours? God gave us the ONLY righteous way?   Our form of corruption is the only way??

The Chinese leaders will change...AT THEIR OWN PACE...why do they have to change at our pace? What right do WE, who came in and slaughtered all of the indeginous peoples of America and made slaves of others have to say that THEY are in the wrong?

I woke up early this morning in this "Commie" country, my wife by my side, pleasant thoughts of a few days ago when my "Commie" father in law had held my hand for over a half an hour in friendship as we talked and laughed...the second morning in a row that my sleep had been interrupted with harsh traumatic nightmares where I had screamed and woken my wife, of what I had endured as a kid in combat against my father in law's type...I ruminated about how I had been treated on my home coming by the people of my own country (eggs, rotten tomatoes, etc., thrown at me, distain in airports at my uniform)...oh if they could have seen what I had endured for the pleasure of sitting in an airport gate with them...all for the fight against Communism

And I thought...my dear precious wife and son do not have the right or freedom to live in America with me  How ironic is this....moronic explains it a lot better, me thinks. ;)

Yasuh, them dirty commies, when are they EVER gonna do what WE want them to do? :o

How do you figure that?

Well, Wild Bill, its like this rat cheer....Filed K-1 November 2006, interview in July 2007 treated like a dog by an American and AR blue slipped at interview, 300 day wait on the blue slip which turned into a denial in May 2008, then a short thirteen months for the application to get sent back to the NVC in June of 2009. In July of 2009 the USCIS re-approved the application with no rebuttal letter sent to me...meaning there never was anything wrong with the application to begin with. All courtesy of the American government with no repressive pinko Commie's causing any trouble.

Maybe next time "freedom" will apply, eh? ;)

I can handle the visa crap, it's just par for the course, especially with my knowledge that when you play ball with Uncle Sammy, he has a tendecy to stick the bat up your ass...at least thousands didn't die in this case. :)

What are your plans for this big revolution that's gonna rock China to it's foundation? :)

I do regret using the word "right" as I full well understand that there is no "right" to an immigration visa.

Thanks guys, I usually steer clear of these type threads, but they bother me. This morning I just felt like screaming.

I am an American but I am so sick and tired of the arrogance and the thinking that our way is the only way...and the F'ing Nazi type propaganda machine we run. It sucked learning that I had been lied to by the whole system, beginning in the first grade. My wife says they were taught America was the devil also, in grade school on up, so it works both ways.....it's just governments.

Don, I know I am home, but the bugger man and the ones who died in the back of my chopper still haunt me. I can not for the life of me understand how I could possibly have hard core nightmares when I am having one of the happiest times of my life here with my wife...these last two nights were unbelievably cruel...luckily I have lived with them long enough to not be freaked out when I wake up, but to have my wife wake up with me screaming or her hearing me taking those short choppy breaths of out of control fear and having to wake me up....oh well, I'm still laughing and she isn't put off by them, nothingsome funky chicken dance steps to the bathroom can't take care of.

I suppose people have gotten the wrong idea about my personal feelings about communism... :) For the uninitiated... I am a left-leaning person politically... ;) (can I say that here???) I have never felt any animosity toward socialism or communism in any way shape or form...I was against the Vietnam war right from the start...But we don't really need to go there...I think a socialist or communist system could be the best of all possible worlds...But its a very large COULD BE... we have only seen it work well in very small examples...Once you get out to the nation size entity well, "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" principle seems to take over...When there are no checks and balances, when there is no rule of law, when there is no opportunity for the man on the street to be heard, when there is no avenue of recall for corrupt officials... :) What kind of a system is it??? I don't give a ratz putoot what you call it I say it does not serve THE PEOPLE...it serves the few at the very top... ;)

Glad to see you've landed and are doing so well Tsapper...Enjoy every minute buddy... :P

The National People's Congress is currently in session in Beijing. I've been watching interviews every night on CCTV9 of participants. These delegates come from all over and all walks of life and less than 40% are party members... :P NO No not that party... :eekout:

But it is very interesting to listen to their desires for ways to improve their country. There IS a great interest in moving forward in giving THE PEOPLE more control, more freedom, more rights, more say in what goes on and how things are done...One can only hope that the leaders are hearing this and acting on it... :P
