jin01
I mailed in the i-485 package on 01/12. It got delivered to Chicago PO box 6 AM 01/14. When will I get a receipt response? Thanks! Link to comment
warpedbored
You will probably get a NOA in about 2 weeks and biometrics soon after. The interview or decision could take up to a year depending on which local regional office you use. Average is probably 5-6 months. Link to comment
jin01
Just got an email notification that our case "has been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing". As of now, we are still in the 90-day range. We are safely in-status right? Link to comment

What IS an issue is if you go more than SIX months out of status and attempt to travel while AOS is pending even with an AP document, the out of status can and will bar re-entry. Link to comment

The AP document allows re-entry. By your standard, my wife was about 2 years "out of status" when she used her AP (we didn't apply for it initially, but waited until we were planning a trip). AP is for exactly that purpose. AOS pending is a valid immigration status. Edited January 20, 2010 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment
