Question on the OF 171

In the instructions it states if this is not her first marriage she must submit the name, birth date, current address and phone number of her ex husband, and bring this information to the interview. Does she just write a statement in Chinese containing this information and have it translated into English and notarized?

Simply write statement giving this information in both Chinese, and "English"

 

Translation does not need to be certified or notarized, it is simply Name/Address/Phone #

Thanks, the instructions did not say if the letter needed to be notarized or if it needed to be in both Chinese and English.

Let's apply common understanding and sense to this:

 

If she is providing the information in english and can swear by the information and answer to it, then english is enough, as-is.

 

If she is submitted from a chinese document, then notarial translation is who 'swears by it'...
