Japan's Arrogance Apparently Undeserved

Recommended Posts

My ex wife is Japanese, I have many Japanese friends. I've been to Japan several times. I've studied Japanese history. They are not bad people. They have no more control over what their ancestors did to the Chinese than we do over what ours did to Native Americans or African Americans. This site does not tolerate flaming any ethnic group.

From the CFL guidelines

Cultural sensitivity, diversity and acceptance of all people are fundamental principles of Candle. Any racist or stereotypical statements are strictly forbidden

I will second that, lets not prejudge a people for their actions in the past.

For example the 442 Regimental of the US Army were the most decorated soldiers, Japanese Americans who fought hard and died for the USA in Europe.

Due to their outstanding bravery and the heavy combat duty they faced, the 100/442nd RCT became the most decorated unit in U.S. military history for its size and length of service. There were over 18,000 individual decorations for bravery, 9,500 Purple Hearts, and seven Presidential Distinguished Unit Citations.

Thank you Dan ... if anyone wants to bash the Japanese as related to WW2 I'm all in as my family suffered directly at their hands in POW slave camps (Burmese railroad) ... But I think bashing them for being Japanese is wrong.

We all came from Africa.

This is no different from the rest of the world and their percieved AMERICAN ARROGANCE. In most movies (even the ones made in Hollywood) Americans are usually stereotyped as loud, obnoxious, oversexed or drunken louts. in the past that reputation was probably deserved and no matter how we act now that perception is hard to overcome.

All we can do when we go overeseas is to be quiet, respectful and try to be good ambassadors for the American people, trying to change the perception, one person at a time.
