N-600 Certificate of Naturalization Is it Needed for Child?

Is there any advantage or time when a certificate of naturalization would be required. My wife was just sworn in as a citizen and her biological daughter (our daughter) can prove citizenship with a passport. So why would we need to spend the application fee for the certificate? Any suggestions as to why I should apply for the certificate.

A simple answer to your question is this: when it comes time to renew their Passports, the kids will have to send in proof of their citizenship (old passport alone won't do). US born citizens send in their birth certificate. If your kids do not have a US birth certificate, they have to submit their Green Card along with the birth certificate or citizenship certificate of their US born parent, when it is time to renew the passport.

Correct, the cert is also useful in other situations where citizenship proof is needed.
