Kyle
Assuming you are wanting immigration visas for your wife and stepdaughter. The first thing I would do is read through the FAQ. I have found it to be extremely helpful; it has also answered many of my questions. If you are currently residing in China and if you qualify for direct consular filing (See link "Do we qualify for DCF" for more information - http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37648), then the following FAQ will be helpful to you. I know it has served me well. Candle For Love's DCF FAQ http://candleforlove.com/FAQ/CFL_FAQ_DCF_Final1.htm Second, what I did was spend a couple of days reading through the General Discussion and First Steps forum. It didn't take me long to grasp the general concept of consular filing. You can find a ton of information on the Guangzhou consulate website. Specifically the forms you will need to file. If you're filing for IR-1 (Immediate Relative spouse = married longer than two years) IR-2 for your step daughter (I think - but since IR-2 doesn't apply to me, I may be mistaken). Please refer to http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/fo...and_packets.htm Specifically IV Instruction Packet (“Packet 3”) and IV Appointment Packet (“Packet 4”) I've also found that the consulate's FAQ to be quite informative. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/iv_faqs.htm For a brief overview of the process in general (from the Guangzhou consulate website) please visit here: http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/cr...and_cr2/ir2.htm Edited October 13, 2009 by KJJ (see edit history) Link to comment
clarejinjin
Are you currently residing in China with your wife and stepdaughter and have you been residing in China (with residence permit) for the past six months or longer? If so, you can file directly with the consulate. Read the FAQ for more information. The following link lines out the process in greater detail than I could do on my own. http://candleforlove.com/FAQ/CFL_FAQ_DCF_Final1.htm I have lived in China for the past 3 years. 2 1/2 with my wife and her daughter. I have all the residence permits needed. Can I get back to you if I have any questions?ThanksSteve Link to comment
Kyle
Is your wife and stepdaughter wishing to immigrate to the US, or are they wishing to live in America under a non-immigrant visa? Sure, ask questions if you have them. You can PM me if you want, but there are a ton of people here who know more than I. I'm sure they'll be willing to help you as well. Randy W
Is your wife and stepdaughter wishing to immigrate to the US, or are they wishing to live in America under a non-immigrant visa? Not possible with the family visas. The CR/IR visas are immigrant visas, the K visas require that you Adjust status ("immigrate") in order to stay. Filing DCF (Direct Consular Filing) would give them an IR-1 visa, with a 10 yr. green card upon entry. Link to comment
