SHANGHAI ¡ª Every weekend in Shanghai's 'People's Park Number Five,' they come ¡ª mothers, fathers, grandparents ¡ª all holding pictures and posters of young Chinese men and women who are looking for love.

Parental matchmaking isn't easy, according to one man who tells FOX News that he's been shopping for a wife for his 33-year-old son for six months. . . . .

Once they ease the one-child-policy and selective abortions of females is stopped perhaps it will be better.

Acutally, if you look at the number of parents looking for spouses for their daughters and the ones for their sons, you will see that the one child policy has nothing to do with the problems in Shanghai. Women are having bigger problems in Shanghai and only in the countryside, men are having more problems. This is mainly due to the fact that most Chinese women want to marry some guy who are more sucessful and have higher education than the men. In Shanghai, there are more better educated women than men. The same is true for Beijing and Shenzhen.

This is true for almost any woman of any nationality, not just Chinese.

Maureen O'Dowd wrote a whole book on the concept, I think.

Depends if you are a male or a female.

If you are a little girl in an orphanage----or abandoned on the street---your chances of survival---much less success go directly to your worth.

Sad to say, the abortion of so many girls (as well as infanticide) ---yes, its still going on in China----makes the girls who make it to the orphanages-----worth more.
