SheLikesME?
IN the Dallas Fort Worth area Plano, TX has to be the place, but there really isn't a Chinatown. Things are spread out. On the Ft Worth side Arlington, TX has some food and other stores centered around the intersection of Pioneer Parkway (303) and Collins. Dallas side:Richardson, TX used to be the area where a lot of Asians live and still do but Plano, TX has become the area now. In fact everythig migrats North of Dallas little by little. Maybe one year Frisco, TX will be the place to be. Plano, TX has a lot of Asian stores intermingled with everything else. You have to know your way around. There is a big thick yellow pages phone book in Chinese my wife got and put colored tabs on it. She has found Chinese doctors, stores, & services of every kind and it seems like she can find anything she wants or needs that is owned by someone who is Chinese. She has a GPS and found her way to everything. I will have to find out how she got the book and post it. Just bumpig into folks in the Asian stores gained her some good friends that helped her as well. I would say the Aisan population centers around Rice Middle School in Plano (highest Asian student population in Plano ISD)and fans out from there. 50% of students are in Nat Jr Honors Society and they teach High School classes at this school because so many advanced students. Robinson Middle School area is also popular with Asians and has a High School next door for advanced math & etc. Plano has many of the things Asians would want for their kids: tutors on almost any subject both private and classroom setting on weekends and evenings. A lot of sports outside of school and music tutoring. I here there is training for adults as well in english and etc. North Plano High School wins the Texas orchestra competition every year of late. Rice Mid Sch has chess champions and other things similar. Lil One walks to her pre-algebra on Sunday at a nearby business building, one of several to chose from. Piano teacher not far away and she is Chinese. There are a lot of resturants. There is the North China resturaunt, my favortie, for just that type of food and the employees have the North China accent, so I am told. Same owner has one for Southern Chinese. How about that? As stated earlier Houston area has Bellair, TX which is the largest most modern best Chinatown I have ever been too, worth the visit!!! Eat anything! Buy anything! Edited March 1, 2011 by SheLikesME? dnoblett
I forgot about the community in Las Vegas, last time we visited there we stopped into LV China Town. http://www.lvchinatown.com/ (More of a plaza, LV is just too modern to have developed a traditional China Town) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown,_Las_Vegas Link to comment
