Name field on the EAD I-765

Can anyone tell me if I should use my new married name in question 1 (Family Name) of the I-765 or my maiden name? Also, should I use my maiden or married name on the I-485?

 

ps. This is a k-1, so my name changed after the original documents submited prior to POE.

So they won't have a problem matching up my original paperwork with the I-485 & I-765 if I use my new name?

Make sure that you only have one A# - check your NOA2 and anywhere else it might appear.

 

There is a place on the form where you list any 'other' names used.

No, of course not. The passport is good enough for the time being. The EAD or a state ID card, maybe DL) will be the first picture ID issued in the US.

Check the expiration date on your K1 visa first.

 

I am a K1 visa holder as well, and I just went to the California DMV to apply for a state ID. But they said after the expiration date on my K1 visa, they wouldn't be able to issue me a state ID, until I get my green card.

Some states require only the EAD - Jiaying got her DL on the same day she got her EAD. Check with your own state.
