Mick
Just wanted to gather a little info about how AOS is going for folks. How many of you have either received AOS or been scheduled an appointment. We are at five months now and haven't heard a thing from Atlanta regarding AOS, other than their original letter stating it might take 36 months. Link to comment
manhattanmoon
Since there is 720+ waiting days for New Yorkers to AOS and I just filed the thing couple of weeks ago, I don't expect to hear anything exciting soon. Checked www.kamya.com/aos/ site (a little out of dated stats) and found Atlantas' are around 4-5 months, so Mick you should be getting some good news soon.......Just reeeeelax and watch the Yankee game tonight. newman
My wife just sent an inquiry letter to BCIS about AOS interview. First BCIS letter stated it would be six months plus. It has been almost seven months since she filed the original papers. Link to comment

Guest Long_strider
We filed the AOS application in July and the AOS interview is tomorrow. The receipt the we received on September 13 stated that it would take at least 7 months for the interview to be schedule. We were surprised that we received a notice on Sept 24 that are AOS appointment was scheduled for October 22 at the local BCIS office. (Portland, OR) Quick!!!!!!!!! I'll give a report of our experience tomorrow after we finish the interview. Mi and Yuqing. Link to comment

Guest Long_strider
This morning we went to BCIS for the initial AOS interview. Arrived in US 6/26 on K-1Married 7/4Filed for AOS in 7/03. AOS interview 10/22 We were sent a letter regarding the date and time and the request to bring all immigration paperwork We arrived about 7:00 am. Waited in line for 30 minutes outside. Then waited in the waiting room for about 35 minutes. The BCIS rep called us into the interview room. Asked us to raise our right hands and swear we would tell the truth to his questions. He asked for ID for both of us including her Passport, EAD card, SSN card and AP paperwork. He also asked for my driver's license. He asked about any change of address. He asked when she entered the country. asked if she had been outside of the US since entering asked if she was a member of any political party or terrorist group asked if she had voted while in the US. asked if she had committed any crimes while in the US He asked me my ssn asked me my place of employment and wages asked how many people live in our home He then reviewed some papers and wrote some things in red ink!! The he took the EAD card he took the AP original paperwork he took the original sealed vaccination form signed by the civil surgeon He updated in the computer our new address ( we had already sent in a change of address, but it had not been entered in the system yet.) He then toke out a form for her Green Card, attached a picture of her. He asked her to take a single finger print and said that this along with her picture would be on the card. He had us sign a form stating that he had informed us when we would need to apply for the permanent status (two years from the date of entry). There is a 90 day window to apply. If you do not apply during that time, then you can be deported. He was most emphatic that we apply within those timelines. He gave us a copy of this notice He put a stamp, some handwritten numbers in her passport to indicate that she now has permanent, conditional status. This replaces the EAD card and the AP papers. (We liked the EAD card because it was a useful picture ID, but he took them back) I asked when we would receive the Green Card, in six months?. He said that we would likely receive it must sooner, because the processing of green cards has been relatively quickly in recent weeks. The green card will be issued out of our service center, in this case Nebraska. He asked if we wished to submit any evidence of our relationship at that time. We gave him a copy of a check with both our names on it ( a refund from the title company). We asked about an interview in two years. He said that sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. He said it depends upon the evidence that we submit in two years. What kind of evidence? He said, mortage papers in both our names, bills (utilities, etc) in both our names, bank accounts in both our names, joint tax returns, etc. I had pictures of our wedding, but he wasn't interested in looking at or keeping these. Hope all goes well for you Mick in the process. Sorry about your long time.Seems like all the BCIS offices have their own way of doing things and their own speed. Some are slow and some are slower. We were very surprised as how quickly things went. Yuqing was concered because we had spent so much money on the AP/EAD Cards and never used them for travel or employment. manhattanmoon
Congratulations Long Strider! Here is my timeline so far:AOS filed: 09/29/03Fingerprint: 10/17/03FP updated: 10/22/03 checked the BCIS online case status, " the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 application to Register Permannet Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made. " Just wondering how long it takes between the FP done and receiving the letter of interviewing? Link to comment
Guest Long_strider
We were afraid to ask at the interview this morning...... We were never asked to submit fingerprints during the AOS process. When we filed the AOS application back in July we offered to pay the $50.00 fingerprint fee, but the BCIS representative said that it was not necessary and gave us back the check. We thought we would hear from that later with an appointment to the fingerprint office here is PDX. It never happened. Hmmm, either PDX screwed up...or every office handles the fingerprint thing different, cuz we never gave one until the AOS interview today and then it was only the index finger of her right hand.... hmmm..... Mick
Thanks for your detailed post Strider. We had fingerprints taken at the time of EAD. Wonder if they will do it again at AOS? Glad things went well for you at the interview. Congratulations! Link to comment
manhattanmoon
Mick, do you get an updated case status regarding the FP? According to some posts from Murthyforum.com, you should get an update couple weeks after the actually fingerprinting done. However it seems there is no clear correlation btw the FP and AOS approval/interview (example like Long Strider) and one maybe required to retake it since FP expired in 15 months. Link to comment

I am a bit in the dark as to how the Atlanta Center operates. The only thing I know for sure is they move pretty slowly it would seem, at least in terms of AOS. But to be truthful, I can't really complain. They processed our EAD and AP within the time frames they specified in the original letter. Link to comment
