Off to Cali AOS

I was just wondering, my wife and I finally received our EAD card and travel documents. I just check the online status of our case and they transfered it to Cali, which to me sounds great!. Is it true that Cali service center usually mails out the green card without interview?? I live in Long Island New York, so its not suppose to go there but they sent it there. I just hope they mail it to us because we have planned our vacation back to China in Aug to visit family. Thank you everyone who has helped me from the beginning and now Im finally coming towards the end. At least for two years, lol.

Yes, in most cases when NBC sends the I-485 case to CSC it results in a GC without an interview.

 

I have seen a few cases where the adjudicator at CSC decides an interview is needed, if this happens the case will transfer back to NBC and then get scheduled for an interview at your field office.

 

Also I-485 never gets sent to VSC, even if you live in NY.

I-485 is sent to the PO BOX in Chicago which is the mail processing center, and they send the AOS package to NBC in Missouri, they then decide on interview OR adjudication, if interview then case gets sent to your local field office, if they decide adjudication then it gets sent to California Service Center. CSC is the largest center and they handle ALL I-485 cases that NBC determines can be approved without an interview. Also as far as I have seen CSC houses the complex printer that prints green-cards.

 

VSC is a smaller center and only handles things like visa petitions, and things like removal of conditions (I-751), and EAD (I-765) when applied for before adjusting status.

If you have an interview, it gets sent to a local field office, where the interview will be held
