W7 Tax Info Help

Hello All,

 

For the W7 I would need a certified copy of my wife passport but it seems so hard to get in China. Do anyone know if IRS is willing to accept anything else? I have a notaried Marriage Cert. Thanks

Joe - a US consulate can make the notarized copy in China, but Guangzhou is unwilling to do it. There are other consulates that will do it - thankfully. Is she up to making a trip to Chengdu or Shenyang?

 

OR

 

She can send the passport to you, you can take it into your favorite bank, they can make a notarized copy of it (which fulfills the requirements of the W-7), and you can send it back to her.

 

If yer getting tight on the April 15 deadline, file for an extension, today - that gives you till OCT or NOV to 'regularly file).

Yes it a tough call because I am putting together the affadivit of support package so I can send it off. I just cannot beleive they make things so hard.

The W-7 is not required for the Affidavit of Support. You should be able to put together the return that you WILL file and file that with your I-864.
