Silverthorne
Which tax documents do I need to make copies of for the interview, just the 1040's or do I also need to make copies of schedule A, schedule B, schedule D, etc? Link to comment
Randy W
Nothing is needed if it's not asked for. But why would you take a chance and not include everything they might ask for? You don't want to be taking shortcuts here. Link to comment
Guest Dylan W
Order your tax transcripts for 2005, 2006, and 2007... and 2008 if possible. Then you don't need to make copies of anything. Link to comment

mikepellicore
If you only bring copies of your 1040's, instead of IRS transcripts, then be sure to bring copies of the W-2's, 1099's and other backup docs for your 1040's. Transcripts come from the IRS and they include the W-2 info, they are documents containing the information you have submitted to the IRS. Your copies are only your copies, and you have no proof that they are the same as what you submitted to the IRS. For our 2008 1040, we have our copy, our copy of the W-2, our e-file receipt, and a copy of our refund check, to show that our refund matches what our 1040 says. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen Usually you will receive the tax return transcripts in less than 10 days, you can call 1-800-829-1040they are FREE Edited March 19, 2009 by mikepellicore (see edit history) Link to comment
dnoblett
Note a tax return is not complete unless you attach proof of the numbers on the return, the 1040 needs proof of the numbers on it, typically copies of W2s and/or 1099s Link to comment
