Brian and Jia Scott
Hi my friends here, I had my interview yesterday morning and the visa officer gave me PINK!!! I am so happy and excited for that, and I paid the EMS yesterday morning ( 02 December ). But when I come back home today, ok it's already 5:36pm here in China ( 03 December ), but there is no record on the EMS website yet... I am getting panic right now, is it normal? Please anyone help me with this? GOD BLESSALL THE BEST TO ALL OF USLING Link to comment
Sebastian
It takes 1 to 3 days for anything to LEAVE the GUZ mailroom. Then there's a 'slush' day for it to get INTO the EMS tracking system (sometimes same day, sometimes next day). Then there's the 'travel time' - 1 to 2 days. Just keep checking it online - say like 02:00 AM china time.... Congrats on the interview - be a dear? tell us all about it?? OH - PS - Your 'panic' - yes, is normal. I finished my interview at around 9ish in the morning and then around 10ish am my husband called from Iraq, and when I told him I was approved in my interview, he was beyond happy, he was sooooo excited... I will post my experience in my interview, but could you give me some more days before I do it? Cause right now, I still can't track my visa and I am still panic and just can't sit down and write down it peacefully... Link to comment

And also I called the visa information center in China and checked about my case status, they told me my case is still under checking, and when I told them I had my interview already and they sounded they don't know it... just told me that they still haven't heard anything from Guangzhou Consulate about my case status updated yet, and so my case is still under checking... and this makes me more panic... Oh, please pray for me my friends... GOD BLESSLING Link to comment
Sebastian
Ling - checking what ? We've had some recent reports here on CFL for additional time, after pink was granted, for NAME CHECK to be complete. So, I ask you - CHECKING WHAT ? If name check, I'm sorry to say, it's gonna take some additional time. But, lets assume for the moment, it's not any type of checking at all - it's just that the 'office' you called doesn't get instant updates from GUZ. Let's further assume that 'checking' was the last status they had. Call them back, ask WHEN (THe Date) the case went into 'checking status', and ask WHAT the prior status was, and The Date as well. That's not gonna tell you anything for info shift - BUT - at least you'll have some idea of WHEN your case STARTED the CHECKING STATUS mode. You want an instant update from GUZ, and I'm sorry to say, it's not gonna happen. DOS in USA will have some info, but they're 1 to 2 days behind anything GUZ puts in your case file. It's only wednesday - not enough time to be panic'ed, yet - go EAT something, go EXERCISE, and calm down !!! Warmest Regards... Edited December 3, 2008 by Darnell (see edit history) Link to comment

Hi Darnell, you were mentioning about name checking, and I am wondering who they are going to do the name checking on? Me or my husband? Link to comment
Sebastian
Ling, if it's actually NAME CHECKING, then, alas, that's gonna be NAME CHECKING ON YOU.. Name checking is one of those things (actually, the only thing) that has no 'set amount of time' in a timeline. It starts, It Stops. There's no hardfast 'rule' at all, about 'when it stops', except - It stops when it's finished. If it's at the end, after your interview, then your passport and visa will be held at GUZ until the name checking is complete. Edited December 3, 2008 by Darnell (see edit history) Link to comment

valenbb
My wife's interview was on the 1st of December, and she picked up her visa package today. On the EMS online tracking site, it only said "Posting". As I check now, it still says the same thing. Wait for 2 days, and hopefully something will happen. Congratulations by the way! Brian and Jia Scott
Time to recheck EMS - any update with them ? Hi Darnell, I didn't do the EMS tracking again after I tried times and times again and without anything. But the mailman called my cell phone this afternoon, and told me to pick up my visa from Guangzhou Consulate!!! So now I have my visa in hand!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! And comes with my visa there is a big package with a bunch of paperwork in it, and I cannot open it, it's only for immigration or homeland security to open... So do you have any idea what it is? And why they need to send the homeland security or immigration so many paperworks? But anyway, now I am ready to write down my experiences about my interview... and thank you so much Darnell. Sebastian
ARggh... OK - so at least it showed up at a postal center, and you can pick it up. Ya, that paperwork pack is to be handed off to the Immigration Officer at the Point of Entry. Don't Open It. As to 'what it is' - nope, not a clue - but I'll hazard one guess - it's the I-130 package with the signed approvals on it. Plus Your Medical Records. But - that's only a guess, surely the Old Hande(s) will know more. as to why? yes, that's standard operating procedure (SOP). Hang in there... now comes the packing ! Link to comment

Hi Darnell, I just posted my interview experience, and the physical exam. Oh that's long... I still cannot make up my mind when to fly to the states yet, cause Christmas is coming, and my parents in law look forwards to spending it with me in the states, but my husband still hasn't finished his trip in Iraq yet, and he is thinking about for me to fly to the states around the time he comes back home... But anyway, do I need to apply anything in china government before I could get on the plane? Or I could just buy my plane tiket and then fly all the way to the states without asking for the permission from china government? GOD BLESSLING Link to comment
Sebastian
You can get some more immunizations whilst yer in China, and have the record of them transferred to your yellow international immunization book. BUT - if yer yellow immunization book is IN the SEALED PACKET, sigh... oh well. You don't need anything else from the Chinese Government. Pay attention to the VISA expiration date - be sure to fly out before the expiration date. I would suggest you gather, in quantities to last 4 to 6 months, in China, your favorite:1. cosmetics2. feminine moon time products 3. underwear (panties, bra) 4. cooking spices Make sure any air tickets that are purchased - have your PASSPORT name (PinYin) on the tickets - and really - that's about all I can think of. If you have a household of items that you want to ship - good news ! There are many freight forwarders in Guangzhou - you can choose air or boat cargo. Link to comment
