Fiancee traveling to USA alone

Recommended Posts

Situation has arrised that may keep me from going to China as soon as my fiancee wished me to. Is it possible for her to travel to USA alone with her K1 visa and me or my father meet her outside the customs gate so that way she would be accompained for the rest of the connecting flights to the east coast ? She speaks very limited english. What kind of problems would she face going through customs? IF problems could exist , she may have to wait until I can arrive to get her , but she will push me anyhow for her quicker arrival to USA.

Any feedback is appreciated. Have plans to arrive through the Thomas bradley terminal at LAX. Has anyone done this way?

Does anyone have a layout of the customs area? I have been through it many times , but would have to draw it from memory. I just need to be sure she goes up the ramp to the right "marked connecting flights" and not out to the parking lot.

She shouldn't have any problems. Most POEs have translators available for the customs and immigration officers if needed. If she has a connecting flight at LAX it would be a good idea to have someone meet her outside customs. She would need to exit the international terminal and go to another terminal which would require another trip through security.

There are Chinese translators at the customs, so needn't worry about this. As far as I understand, she has to change flight? I would recommend that you should have some back up plans if the next fight is within three hours because it might take her very long to go through the customs.

I had to stay overnight in Atlanta by myself when I missed the flight to Burlington on Sep18th. So I think meeting here at the first port will be a good idea. And I don't think you should worry too much about the customs process. It is easy. All she needs to do is to hand in the visa packet to them and then just wait until is called on to get the passport. No more questions!

I do plan to be in LA waiting for her at customs entrance and will be sure to have long layover for her.

Sounds like a good idea to me! In my case I couldn't fly from China with her either, but I met her at POE...enjoy and good luck

I believe most of us would tell you that when we went to China we had little to worry about once we touched down...we were taken care of from then on! Nothing like making your future wife feel loved and secure

Ummmm I remember reading someplace here that once you start a K1 good luck on getting your SO here. Will also count as a denial on your paperwork. Trying to get her here with a K1 in the works may open up a BIG can of worms brother. Be careful and do a bit more reading first, I genuinely hope I am wrong. :roller: Now if the K1 is already approved then it wont be an issue at all.

His question is whether he should go to China to bring her home with her K1, or just meet her at the POE. The answer seems to be overwhelmingly to meet her at the POE.

There are plenty of Chinese-speakers on the plane who can help her out.

Already got the Pink and the Visa. Seems Randy has been watching the game! Thanks!

Now to ease her fear. No different than the 19 or so times I have arrived China and passed through customs , actually a bit easier I think.

Miss understood the original post.

There will be chinese speakers on the plane as stated to help her with the forms. I did notice it was way more difficult to get back in the US then going to China. It took all ove about 10 minutes to enter China and 2 hours plus to enter the US.

Hullo Shade - my apologies, but the OP stated that she already has the K1 visa stamp in her passport. His concern was for her travelling ALONE instead of with HIM for the pond jump.
