Missingyou
Hi, I would like to know if I just file EAD alone now and not together with 485, do I still have to spend time waiting for my biometic apt, or they will just process my application without having me to go in to the office personally? Will they just send me my EAD and I go get my SSN? Link to comment

Will they just send me my EAD and I go get my SSN? No - they take your thumbprint and a picture for the EAD card. Expect 60 to 90 days to get the card. When sent in without the I-485, the fee is $385 or thereabouts. It is free with the I-485. Filing for EAD separately works only with a K-3 to allow you to work while postponing the AOS application to get the 10 year card. The K-1 EAD would expire within 90 days, probably before you get it. K-3 EAD costs less then removal of conditions. Link to comment

dnoblett
Thanks, Guys. Yes, my husband is here on a K-3.From your timeline you will benifit from EAD before AOS. File for EAD now, and then AOS next summer before 1 year anniversary of visa medical to avoid having to do a full I-693 medical, with luck AOS will be approved after OCT 30 2009 getting you 10 year Green-card NOT 2 year card. dnoblett
Note: If you do file for EAD before AOS, the code is (A )(9 ) Life ACT. You mail it to your service center: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD Link to comment
