LeeFisher3
A solution to the problem might be to have every child whose parents believe they might wish to participate in gymnastics be brought before the IOC and FIG prior to their first birthday to have them registered, tattooed and a computer chip embedded with their personal Olympics registration code along wiht a required a DNA sample. We could end all this controversy in about 16 years, but you must register early or you are not allowed to enter the games. Link to comment

Elvis IS STILL alive, I saw him stumble out of a pink limo and fall flat on his face last year in Vegas. As far as the gymnasts...what gymnasts? Is there something actually important going on here, I should think once...or even twice about? tsap seui Link to comment

I see what americalostious is runnin' his mouth about but what would the REAL Olympians say about all this? Should I be worried? Will bombs drop at highnoon? tsap seui Link to comment
IllinoisDave
Yes, it's the media's fault that cheating occurred. How dare they uncover something underhanded and dishonest and expose it. If we could censor media here like in China no one would have ever been exposed to the dirt!!! Dang freedom of the press!! The cheaters aren't to blame, it's the ones who tattle!! Is the appearance of everything being legitamate more important than discovering if it really is (and possibly finding out it isn't)? Is your face more important than your soul? Why does it have to be sour grapes or a conspiracy? If the tables were turned many of you here would have already been judge and jury to the cheating American team and going on and on and on and ON about what a disgrace it was and how we shamed ourselves before China and the world, and how it was typical American win at all costs attitude, the inevitable comparisons to juicing pro athetes etc etc.... but since it's China... "How DARE we claim they cheated even if they did, and bring shame on China... poor little girl..."(I don't blame her, just don't think using the embarassment she will suffer as a reason to not find out the truth is wrong-headed) gag. I care about knowing the truth. Not for any gold stripping or score altering. I would just like to know the truth and see people who don't respect it learn that isn't acceptible. That goes for any country. Link to comment

So you cite evidence directly from the mouth of a former Chinese gymnast who admits that this exact kind of cheating has happened before to somehow bolster your argument? I guess the unfortunate side-effect is that you've stumbled upon evidence that contradicts your whole argument without even realizing it? Link to comment

spacebar
I'm so glad the olympics are almost over. I'm so sick and tired of hearing the whining about the controversy over the gold medals won by the gymnasts. Geez, I've never seen so much whining.... Rules or no rules... these children are being chastized by the media , over what? Their age?? Oh big deal. At least they didn't use drugs or steroids as most Athletes do... especially American pro athletes. All the people who are whining about this... just get over it... these girls are keeping the gold and that's that. Let them keep it... they outperformed the US athletes. I hope these Olympics are over soon so we can all move on. Does anyone believe some American athletes are doing poorly because they can't be juiced anymore? LeeFisher3
One minor item that seems to have been overlooked or avoided since the IOC ask FIG to look into it again is that there is mention of her passport and expired passport. If she traveled to other countries on the expired passport, which is only good for 5 years for children, then there would be entry and exit stamps in it. This would presents us with a few options:The Chinese government knew about the issue a number of years ago and issued the first passport with an invalid birth date. The countries visited updated a new passport with old entry stamps.China made a new passport, forged entry stamps and made it look old.The people providing evidence forged it to make a better news story. She might just be 16.The conspiracy theories could go on and on...
