dnoblett
Randy is the voice of reason here... bona-fide has always been the main issue... this year or five years ago. The evidence they want or expect seems to flucuate now and then. Time apart is not a good thing in general but the overall picture is what really matters. If you have presented some evidence of the past relationship time than that will help. I would say that a VO would question how a student can sponsor a foreign national into the country? Being in law school is simply a person hoping to finish law school... the VO will ask: "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!"Yep, see this all the time on VJ, petitioner's still in school trying to show that they can support the prospective immigrant. I would say the VO will be concerned with how a college student can support a prospective immigrant. In my case, I was well established in my career, and makeing more than three times the povertyline, so support was never a question, in fact I dont think they even bothered looking at my I-134. As for visits to China, I toured China in 05, then returned to China July 06, and then again Feb 07 for my Yu's interview, fortunately K-1 interview corresponded with Spring Festival so had two reasons for being in China. tsap seui
Yeah, those silly kids, how dare they have dreams, hopes, and aspirations at such an early age? And to hell with those co-sponsors who make many times over the "rules" limits. And why would the DOS gods even make a dumb "rule" about having a co-sponsor to begin with? Were they getting paid by the word, to write the "rules" and that co-sponsor "rule" was just fluff to build up the word count? Shucks, I got married shortly after turning 21, in between trips to Vietnam. And, my wife had just turned 18 and graduated high school a month before the wedding. I guess we were damn lucky the government didn't tell us they didn't see how I was gonna support her...hell, I had already gotten shot down 3 times when I married the poor kid...the government could have stopped the wedding when they saw I was going back to Vietnam. Support her? Have a career? Hell, I might not have even been able to live through my next month in Vietnam!!!!! Just playing redneck advocate Dan, nothing meant against your words. tsap seui Link to comment
zanyi
I cant see how visiting a few times for a few days a week is better than having lived in the country for a year, even if it was a year ago. The whole reason to be away is school. Also I am not 21, I am 26 and my parents are co sponsors. And my fiance and I are the same age, we met in school in China, not online. And I came back after graduating from college to work for almost a year so I could be with him again. But had to leave for school again too. I just think we have strong points and one year away may seem strange in another situation but I think if I make a flow chart of events, concise and informative, it will help. But if the interview falls on a vacation I will defnitley go. Link to comment

Your case looks to be a strong one. Link to comment
david_dawei
There are both strong points and weak points; it's going to simply depend on the VO that day... IMO. Link to comment

Once again, David says it all...."it's going to simply depend on the VO that day" Everything else is speculation and conjecture...oh wait a minute...speculation and conjecture, that's GUZ's job NO need for any of us to speculate and conjecture. Good luck on your case. Let's hope you are soon living where you wish to. tsap seui Link to comment
