translation needed

Recommended Posts

My fianc'ee gave to me a 3 page letter handwritten in Chinese..I would really like to know what she wrote to me..but have been unsuccessful in finding a way to have it translated..any ideas?

(it was written to me the day after I arrived in Beijing..and though she was emotional at the time it was written..my stay was quite pleasant..and we are doing quite well at present) :D

I can translate it for you if you send or post a .pdf file.

Because it is a handwritten letter, he needs a translator. It is unlikely he is able to enter the Chinese characters into the computer himself.

I have not yet found a character recognition program that can interpret handwritten Chinese characters. If one exists, I would like to know about it.

My wife is a holy terror with this - around 90% or over recognition. We have the PenPower software from Twinbridge, and a Langwen 8388 hand translator (I forget the exact model number), both of which accept the Chinese script¡£

The Microsoft Japanese IME that comes with XP will also accept (and do an excellent job of interpreting) Chinese script, but Jiaying didn't like the small window you had for entry. The Twinbridge software allows you to use the full window space of the program you are entering to, or a full screen mode.

The Twinbridge program also has OCR, but we haven't tried this.

I can translate for you too. My computer has the Chinese version of Microsoft so if you send the Chinese letter to me, my computer will best recognize it.

If you can scan it in, you could send it as a jpg file to someone.

Let me rephrase that..it is scanned...it is in any format one needs..but how do you attach to someone's PM or email here at this site? Again..it's the thoughts of many that will eventually help me understand what is written...with my luck..it will be the directions to the Harley-Davidson dearlership they opened last year which I ask her about before I arrived.. :pilot:

thanks again...

The CFL PM or email functions don't allow attachments - just PM someone who volunteered. Then send them a regular email.

I'd volunteer, but my wife doesn't speak enough English
