485 paperwork

Several weks ago we went to Tampa office with everything 485 765 etc only to find that the 765 for K-3 people goes to Illinois and you receive your document in one week, thats quick, all we need for S.S. office according to BCIS National Office along with I 94 and A number, should be no problem. I did call on the I-130 approved notice and found it depends on what service center it goes to to be returned, I was told the time for this is about 2 years to get done, ours ended up in the Texas Service Center this has been out since March 2002 , also your 765 will have to be renued every year till the 485 is complete, so be saving $ 120 in change to give the govt till the paperwork is completed, you will never have to apply for SS number though, I know Eric you will say pay them in pennies, but this may take me 3 or 4 years for that many pennies. love the blank look and the burn't out look

I am in the same situation. I checked the visa process time on line and found Texas Service center is the slowest in the nation. All other centers for I-130 are in 2003 date now and for Texas, it stuck on June,2001!!!
