rogerluli
http://www.mckinsey.com/mgi/publications/c...of_findings.asp An extremely interesting report from the McKinsey Global Institute on the coming leap in the urbanization of China. They predict that China will add 350 million people to its urban population in the next 20 years... yes, more than the population of the US. Most will come from rural China and the total living in cities should reach ONE BILLION by 2030. Their thrust is that China must begin a move from emphasizing pure GDP growth to a model of more concentrated cities to take advantage of economies of scale and preserve precious land, energy and water resources for this huge urban population. There is also a pdf of the full report and a kewl interactive graphic of 4 different kinds of growth scenarios on the link. I always thought that some day everything from Hong Kong to Guangzhou to Zhuhai would be one megacity but even that will not be enough to house this population. Link to comment
griz326
The construction business will be booming for a few years. When China has an issue, it is always a monster issue in a scale beyond the comprehension of most people. Link to comment
