ski518
Hi: We are currently processing my wife's visa by the CR-1 process. GUZ has received the paper work from NVC and they are in the "process" of scheduling the interview date: Two questions: Do I have to send my wife another affidavit of support? I've done this twice thus far w/NVC After my wife enters the USA, how do we receive her green card, since there is no "adjustment of status"? Link to comment
MikeXiao
If I remember correctly, the I-130 package had the affidavit of support in it. So no other is required. When she arrives in the US, she will receive a welcome letter and then a short while later, the GC arrives. Link to comment
david_dawei
Yes you should for one small and minor reason: A new tax year has occurred since you filed with NVC and the consulate can ask for the most recent taxes (which might not be the same as that filed with NVC)... have it on hand and be safe. credzba
David, does he (me too in this case) have to fill out another I-864 affidavit of support, or just make sure his wife has this years tax return? I was just going to send my wife a copy of my tax return and w2s. Link to comment
warpedbored
If she has her interview before the tax filing deadline of April 15th then all that should be required is W-2s. I remember though a few years ago a few people got blue slips wanting tax records in February or March. I agree with David. If you have filed send her to interview up to date. If you haven't filed give her W-2s. Link to comment
david_dawei
I think Carl points out the "rock and a hard place" issue involved... give them what you have at the time of the interview... at a minimum, this should be W2s but it may be that they expect taxes! Link to comment
credzba
W2 and taxes for 2007 are no problem.I very much want to send my 2007 taxes because she is on them, a little more "proof of relationship" I hope. My question was do I need to complete another I-864 to send with her as well? Link to comment
david_dawei
IMO, documentation proof is interrelated... if they ask for taxes, then you don't need a new I-864; but if they ask you for a new I-864 then new taxes support that... so the answer is, to cover all bases, yes, provide that... sorry you had to ask more than once.
