shaffej7070
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080221/sc_af...tionfishoffbeat Now that's what I call killing two birds with one stone. I'm relieved that China is taking steps toward environmental issues. I just hope it's not done diplomatically in lieu of the summer games. Link to comment
Guest Tony n Terrific
The article reminds me of the song by the late Marvin Gaye. Ah, mercy, mercy me,Ah, things ain't what they used to be, no, no.Where did all the blue skies go?Poison is the wind that blows from the north and south and east. Mercy, mercy me,Ah, things ain't what they used to be, no, no.Oil wasted on the ocean and uponour seas fish full of mercury, Oh, mercy, mercy me.Ah, things ain't what they used to be, no, no, no.Radiation underground and in the sky;animals and birds who live near by are dying. Oh, mercy, mercy me.Ah, things ain't what they used to be.What about this over crowded land? How much more abuse from man can she stand? Link to comment
Sebastian
Unless I missed something, the Algae is not toxic. The algae naturally scrubs the toxins out of the water, and converts the bad stuff into something inert. Algae can be harvested, in same manner as commercial product 'Spirulina' and has huge health benefits. ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirulina_(dietary_supplement) for more info) I think helping the cottage industries centered around fish-farming is great, but Toxins? This was a weird 'news report' - what was the measured toxin levels in the lake? Link to comment

I'm relieved that China is taking steps toward environmental issues. I just hope it's not done diplomatically in lieu of the summer games. It probably is being done now for diplomatic reasons. My guess and my hope is though that they will keep environmental concerns part of the agenda after the games are finished too. Link to comment
