From NOA2 to NVC processing

Recommended Posts

We got our NOA2 on the 19th Dec, and it has been a month now. We learnt that the waiting time for the NVC processing is around 1 month, so my BF called the NVC a few days before but he was put on hold for such a long time that he hang up the phone finally. Then I emailed the NVC inquiry asking about the status of our case a few times with no replies at all. My BF called the NVC again yeterday using the automated voice service and was told that our file is not in the system. Wow, what does that mean? Does that mean our file has been sent out to Guangzhou Consulate China? or does it mean it still hasn't arrived at NVC yet? Is there any possibilities that it might get lost? What shall we do now to track our GUZ#?

Anyway, I don't know whether it happened to any of your guys before for your P2.5, so if you have experienced the same thing, please share it with us. Thanks a lot.

It is very common for CSC to send the case's in a batch to NVC. The day the NOA2 is printed is not the day it is posted to NVC, hence the time delay for all people.

Email and auto voice will not work for the K1, so don't waste your time. You will need to speak to a live operator and give them your A# and other personal information to find out your GUZ# (once NVC logs your case in).

Once you receive your GUZ#, that will mean it is logged into the system. At that time you can email NVC to see when your case is complete.

It is quite common for some people (K1) to blow through NVC so fast that they will never show logged in. One day they are not in the system, the next day they have their GUZ# and are complete.

Nothing to worry about, you are well within the time frame for your K1 case, and the information you seek will happen soon. :bangin:

Have you got any news for the GUZ No. from the NVC yet? I wonder what is your timeline?

Thanks

It just seems rediculous to me that our NOA, according to the letter, has been sent to the NVC and it says they take 2-4 weeks to process and they put the following line in the letter:

"If it has been more than four weeks since you received this approval notice and you have not received notification from NVC that your petition has been forwarded overseas, please call NVC.... You will need to enter the INS receipt number from THIS approval notice into the automated response system to receive information on your petition.

1. Ok, It has been more than four weeks now

2. I called the number

3. I used the INS receipt number from THIS approval notice when it asked for it (WAC) number.

4. The automated response system said we have no record of this number.

5. I tried to get an operator on the line.....lines are too busy.

6. Called my immigration attorney and they said "Oh, you have to get another number to enter in. It has to start with a CHI or something since your bride is in China. (Not what the notice says or what the automated system asks for)

7. I'm thinking my app is in no-mans-land now and that my attorney can't figure out the system just like I can't figure out the system.

8. I'm still wondering if this thing is untraceable at this point.

9. Seems like the CFL folks are all I've got....the voice of sanity on this stuff.

10. Why am I numbering?

Relax you are close to getting your GZU number and then you get to wait 2-3 months before the P-3!! B)

I called NVC once and was told by a good guy to not bother, as a K-1 it is not there long enough to gather any dust! :) If you signed up in the start at CSC you will get your GZU number e-mailed to you and then you can call DOS! Which is 202-663-1225 then 1-5-0 to talk to a visa specialist, so wait a few days!! B)

I hear that there are folks on here who can predict your interview date. Are you one of them? Am I on track for at least May or June? My mother wants to know if she will be in the grave before I get my bride over here. She wants to see some grandbabies too. Heck, I wonder.

Well with the fellow CFL members in my time frame I have been within a few weeks, but........

You got caught up in the rush to beat the end of July filing fee and it will be hard to predict how it is going to go, but will make my best guess if you like?? :bangin:

NOA1 to NOA2 was about 6 months, not bad seeing that you had an RFE, ouch!!

The travel through NVC has been around a month for most people!!

You should get your GZU number on or around January 30-Feb. 6, remember a big holiday is coming!!

My time from getting my GZU number to getting the P-3 was right around 3 months and then the P-4 depends on when you get the P-3 back and the time of month it hits there!!

So you are looking at around a July to August interview date, depending upon how the big glut of those filing in July starts to affect everybody in the pipe line!! :headbang:

Good luck and hope it goes smoothly from now on!!

neither nvc or Dos will have a record of you until its logged into nvc, unfortunatly USCIS wont help either, they will just tell you its on route. Once you get to NVC its pretty quick, 3-7 days, then they send it to GUZ , 2-3 months to get to GUZ then 2-3.5 months to interview, if no delays in name checks, etc.

So July/Aug is more likely.

PM me if you would like any help with phone numbers or anything else that might help you. I have had good luck comparing my time line to others on CFL!!

VJ has too many "easy" consulates to reflect a true time line here!

You utilized the services of an immigration attorney to prepare and mail your petition, and you got an RFE because your fianc¨¦es birth certificate was not included with your file ???

As Rob and Mark have said, your file should be marked as received (logged in) at the NVC any day now. Their time estimates are accurate, based on all that we can see now.

I have already been sitting on the loading dock at GUZ now for about 45 days, and I don¡¯t expect an interview date before the first week of May, or right after the May holiday period.

Maybe your immigration attorny has not had much experience with China. Your number will start with GUZ, not "CHI or something".

Better keep a close eye on him if he is helping you with the P3 and P4 paperwork, thus far he has let you down 2 times. :o

"If it has been more than four weeks since you received this approval notice and you have not received notification from NVC that your petition has been forwarded overseas, please call NVC.... You will need to enter the INS receipt number from THIS approval notice into the automated response system to receive information on your petition. Outdated time frame, don't worry.

3. I used the INS receipt number from THIS approval notice when it asked for it (WAC) number. Automated phone line does not work for K1.

4. The automated response system said we have no record of this number. See #3 answer.

5. I tried to get an operator on the line.....lines are too busy. Call at off time hours. NVC is open late, maybe 10pm EST.

6. Called my immigration attorney and they said "Oh, you have to get another number to enter in. It has to start with a CHI or something since your bride is in China. (Not what the notice says or what the automated system asks for). False, your number will start with GUZ. When you speak to a live operator however, you will have to give them your WAC# to get your GUZ#.

7. I'm thinking my app is in no-mans-land now and that my attorney can't figure out the system just like I can't figure out the system. You are within the time frame, once in the NVC system you will get your GUZ#.

8. I'm still wondering if this thing is untraceable at this point. Until it is scanned into the system again, yes it is untraceable (but not lost).

Most likely your case left NVC already and heading to GUZ. Call DOS with your case # as Mark suggested and they will tell you what's going on. Don't bother to call NVC. We did not received anything from NVC and we got our GUZ # from DOS. Calling DOS is way better then calling any other place including the GUZ Customer Service (they are a joke) to track your GUZ process too. Good luck.

Best wishes,
