I would look for a DVD player that says it supports VCD. I went to Apex website and they said they support SVCD, but the FAQ said they do not support VCD.

 

I would look for one that specifically says they will support VCD. I have played VCDs on my old Apex, my old Sony and my Bose 123. Plus, they play well on my computer.

 

Maybe the newer Apex models are not as good as the older ones.
