Jim, this was originally a Florida get together. However, we are encouraging everybody to come. The date has been set for October 13, 2007. Jim, love to see you guys here and everybody else ....Chef....

 

 

Unfortunately at the moment it looks likely that I'll be in Pakistan on that date. BTW, did you know that the 13th is the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday this year, marking the end of Ramadan.

OK, Leiqin and I are considering on making plans to fly to Fla on the 13th. We'll stay where ever is the most convenient to the gathering of our CFL brethren and sistren, if someone would be so kind to give us some suggestions.

 

We will be renting a car where we will embark on meeting her 3 "Florida (Nanning) girlfriends" who are also married to American men.

This is off-season there. Anywhere around DisneyWorld is dirt cheap $24 and up.

 

My favorite when I used to take my son to Disneyworld was Masters Inn Maingate @ $45.

 

We may stay for a week if we can make plans with others.

Dennis...any joint on International Drive, Orlando is ok. Major hotel chains are on that strip. Other locations would be Lake Buena Vista area, Main Gate East & Maingate West are other areas in Lake Buena Vista that gives you a good value. Again, all the major hotel chains are located in these area. Also, all are convient to Mickeys Retreat.

 

Geez how nice....we finally get to meet Leiqin...oh yea you to...

 

BTW, hope you'll be bringing Leiqin 3 friends and their families.

Just wanted to edit the hours a wee bit. Mickey's retreat does not open until 11:00AM on Saturday. We will be there then until close. Here are the hours:

 

Saturday & Sunday:

Park Open 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Pool Open 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Marina Open 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

 

Mickey's Retreat offers the perfect combination of the great outdoors, beaches, natural beauty and a variety of recreational opportunities. Nestled into a forest setting filled with rustic charm, Mickey's Retreat at Little Lake Bryan is a 19 acre recreation facility open exclusively for Disney Cast Members. I've stayed there before, going to Disneyworld with my son. I think the traffic situation there is better. You are very close to Disneyworld, and always going against the traffic. Entry Point Blvd is actually a side entrance to Animal Kingdom.

There are a number of members that actively participated on this site in the past that either live in Florida or neighboring states that might be interested in attending the Disney World Get Together.

 

If any new, or older members have personal contact information about these members, please feel free to contact them and let them know, or PM me with their contact information so that we can add them to our contact list.

It is VERY important that everyone who plans to attend the Disney World Get Together, send me a list of everyone that will be coming with them. Special passes will be required to enter the area, which I will send out before the event on October 13. While there is no real sense of urgency, especially for those of you on the fence about this, I do need to have that information no later than 48 hours before the event. Also, please PM me with a personal external email account.

There are boats and a swimming pool available, so bring your swimsuits, and lotsa sunblock for our fair skinned ladies. There is lots of cover and shade available also.

I am bumping this post because there have been a few questions from members and non members alike asking about who to contact for information about the Walt Disney World Get Together in Orlando, Florida, Octorber 13th, 11:00AM to 8:00PM.

 

Non members and members alike that wish to attend should write and email to either Me or my wife Lan. Your cooperation is needed so that we may get an accurate count of attendees. This is very important as we've reserved an area for 35 people; more space is available if we need it, but we need to reserve it as far in advance as possible.

 

Right now, we may be nearing a count of 35, but it's very difficult to tell because only a few members have confirmed their attendance via email. If you know anyone either member or non member that might like to attend this event, please encourage them to reserve their space via email.

VERY IMPORTANT

 

Unfortunately, we must cut off attendance to the Walt Disney World Get Together at Mickey's Retreat at 35 persons. I've tried to secure another area but cannot for that day. While we haven't yet reached a confirmed number of attendees at 35, we are very close to that number of people that have either expressed interest, or have confirmed they will come.

 

If you haven't already done so, please confirm your attendance to me so that I may get an accurate count. Everyone will be counted at the gate, that includes infants and children, wives, and husbands.

 

ALSO:

 

Even if you've already confirmed your attendance with me, do it again just to be safe.

Two thoughts, if attendence will grow beyond 35:

 

- Pick another date which can accomodate more people

- Pick another place

 

it would be a shame to close off interested people from coming...
