hakkamike
Wow. Wish I could have them on hand when Ping arrives.Right now is the time of year to order rhizomes, here is a link on planting and growing them Growing Irises. The Portland area has tons of Iris Farms. They do very well in TX also.Shouldn't you wait until Sept or Oct in TX?I started ordering rhizomes almost 2 months ago to get some of the more popular ones that I knew would be sold out, most places have not even really started shipping out as of yet, to answer your question Randy yes fall is really the best time for Texas when the temps are below 90, there are a lot of people here that do divide and transpant now with no problems, they are pretty tuff plants. I have still not received any of mine yet and will more than likely wait a few weeks to a month to plant them, rhizomes do not like to be left un-planted for more than a month. If you ordered from a vender today I would think that u would not get ur order until late August anyway. Edited July 31, 2007 by hakkamike (see edit history) Link to comment
Yuanyang
They're beautiful Mikey. Many folks consider them 'old-fashioned'; but I think they're great. The old home place had a huge patch that the neighbors envied. Link to comment
hakkamike
Here is a link to growers http://www.irises.org/links.htm#Commercial...rectory/Listing and here is a link to a few peoples reviews on the companys that sell irises http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/ir...2101593743.html Don has the maybe the most well known Iris farm around close to him in Salem, Schreiner's, I have orded from them and SnowPeak(Denise is a great person) and MidAmerica(Paul is a great guy too) Schreiner's is so popular that u may or may not get what u order beacuse the variety could be sold out and they are not really good in telling u what is avalible or not. You can also do a search on Ebay and find a lot with the buy it now price, I would recommend that u get a few from one vender to save on shipping, most do a 5.00 shipping with a dollar for others purchased from them Link to comment
