Silk Wall covering

In decorating my new apartment, my wife wants to have the walls of both floor covered with silk wall covering with hand painted flowers, birds etc. I wonder if any one has experience or knowledge about silk. My concern is how long will it last, exp. with a lot of light in the apartment (26 windows and two sliding doors). Will the painting color fade with time more easily when it is on silk?

I dont know about silk wall, but I am sure that silk is a very delicate fabric, even for dress, it is advised not to wear too many times out under the sun, it will make the whole thing faded. Someone said that the best way is to put away the silk dress so it wont be damaged by different conditions.
