The good part about living in China

Recommended Posts

Returned to China now for over a year, I basically like China, despite some of the problems

(1). Things are cheap, esp. labor.

(2). I make a lot more money than in the U.S., not in cash though, but in unvested profit share which means no current tax in China or the U.S. and getting ready to retire in 7 years.

(3). Getting better career path (apart from the money). In the US. unless I make partner, which is almost impossible, I would be always working like a slave for about 200k. In China in one year I made director in a private equity fund.

(4). People are a lot more friendly.

There are hookers and easy girls, but so what?

Steve, I like your signature line that says "I mean that if you are happy you will be good." Happiness comes from the inside out.

:D :D :D

Just kiddin ;)

I'll tell ya Ch ole' buddy, what I like is that in the states I was a dreamer, in China I'm a doer.

In the States I dreamed of being a teacher. In China, in two short years I went from primary school teacher to full blown Professor of Sociology at a prestigious University. An excellent one too I might add :sleep1:

In the States I dreamed of being a musician. Here, I have jammed at a few bars and now when they sees me comin' they go nuts!!! :D

My current philosophy is simple: Quit yer bitchin' and do something positive.

I am an ambassador here, not an ugly American. If ya can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. If you can't fit China in your American mold, pack your ef'in bags and get the hell out. It ain't and never will be America. It's China, and like your wife - better or worse.

Hope that helps buddy!

Love ya, Steve

Yes Steve that does help immensly. We can sit over here in the US and dream all we want. Mine now is somewhat of a dream and reality mixed together. The dream is living in China and having my wife come to the USA. The reality is up to the visa gods. One way or the other we will be together. Your story is very inspiring to me. You went to China when your wife was in dire need of you. Then you managed to build a decent life there. The pictures in Ying's blog really tell a nice story. Regardless of whether my wife and I live in the US or China, life will be fully accepted and always for better or worse. I firmly believe that when the worst comes along then it will eventually lead to the better.

You know Tony, it almost seems as if the Chinese are wanting to come to the USA to find better jobs and the USCs are wanting to go to China to get better jobs. :sleep1:
