LeeFisher3
We e-filed an I-90 with the USCIS for a replacement green card, cost $260, including biometrics fee. The I-797C receipt arrived 3 days later and a week later the I-797C biometrics appointment letter arrived. Total time line, 21 days from filing to appointment The appointment letter instructs us to appear for biometrics and to bring all evidence related to the name change to be verified at the time of the biometrics. LeeFisher3
Took son to the biometrics appointment as scheduled, provided a copy of the documentation for his legal name change and they took his picture and fingerprints, then stamped the Biometrics appointment letter and returned his green card telling us we should receive a new green card within the next 90 days. Today we received the approval notice saying we should receive the card within the next 30 days. The approval was dated the day after the biometrics appointment. For anyone considering doing a name change based on marriage or adoption, the process is very painless except for the $$$. Your only interaction appears to be with DHS and not USCIS. Link to comment
jim_julian
Thank Lee ... our Chinese daughter wants to do a name change and take on Julian as her family name. We under stand the legal name change process in Cali and it sounds like the GC change is not as difficult as I thought it would be. Link to comment
