shaffej7070
Ditto. I hated being seated next to groups of men chain smoking in restaurants and other public places. I hope the PRC implements measures to ban smoking in restaurants and educate the masses of the dangers. As far as I'm concerned, smokers do not have rights. Link to comment
tywy_99
I watched a show not too long ago about smoking. It mentioned the smoking in China. It said that the number of smokers in China is greater than the population of the US in whole. That's alot of smokers! Link to comment
chilton747
Last time I was in China, I went into the smoking area. 2 chinese men came in and lit up. Immediately they started coughing so hard that I thought they would literaly puke. When they stopped coughing then they would take another hit and start coughing again. During that visit I had promised my wife I would quit when I got home. It's the best thing I have ever done. Now I have become quite sensitive to smoke and it bothers me some. So if I see a restaurant or other place where people are smoking then I do just want Don said. It is simple to just stay the hell out. Link to comment

Whether it's forced or voluntary, you ultimately made the choice to quit with encouragement from the doctor and loved one. You're lucky to have such a wonderful Lao Po. ...But we can't be forced to quit Cheetos or CFL. Link to comment

SirLancelot
There are many things I like about China, but eating in smoked filled restaurants is not one of them. Smoking As aye, Jim An authoritarian government can be quite useful when actually implementing policy. If the Chinese government had the political courage to completely and totally ban smoking anywhere except for home consumption, they can easily achieve it. But the problem is the lack of will and the enormous profits the state own tobacco companies make from cigarette sales. It will be a long time coming before China outlaws smoking. I so hope I'm wrong on this. Living in CA (one of the most, if not the most, anti-smoking state) I absolutely hated the smoking situation in China. Many places laugh at you when you request a non-smoking section to be seated. Link to comment
SinoTexas
I was on an internal flight in China about a year ago and lo and behold, there was a smoking section on the plane! It was a long two hours as I was seated in the row behind the smoking section. I thought all the airlines had banned smoking on all flights, but apparently not in China. I guess in order to find a non-smoking venue, one just needs to stay out of China. As aye, Jim Link to comment
