the_american_knight
I have been to ZiGong and had "the hot pot" nuff said!!! also had monkey on a stick in the Phils I have had the bitter melon.. didn't like it, but I ate it. on an opposing note, I love the greens that are very popular there. My translator calls them "basin greens" I think Shiyang told me they are called Kings vegetable, or something close to that. I believe they are a type of garlic or in the garlic family. BillV 8-16-2004
I won't refer to the food that I have eaten as weird but unusual as far as our western taste buds are concerned since I have actually gotten to enjoy some of these foods and dishes. I have tried deep fried silk worms, conch soup, turtle soup, sea worms fried and in soup, fried eels, durian, frogs, mackerel, shark, snake, bitter melon, South American papaya soup with ginseng, pigs feet soup, pig stomach soup, pig tail soup and ox tail soup to name a few.
