Reason/Date for I-131

AP form I-131 asks for a date of the intended leave and also for a separate sheet of paper giving a reason. My wife only needs to go back to Beijing should her parents become ill or if the AOS takes a long time and we want to go to china in early 2008 for vacation. There is no fixed date of departure. Should I still make up some date? Is the separate sheet with a reason needed for a K-1 visa holder? Should I state on this sheet that there is no date of leave and that it will only be used "just in case"? For her son's application should I give the same reason?

 

Also, when the AOS is finally approved, will she end up getting a green card? What would be her status at this point ... A permanent resident? Is she then a citizen of the USA or of China? Is this the end of the line or do I then have more paperwork for her to become a citizen?

Reason and dates are not important for K-1 - "parents health/vacation" and an approximate should do it. The reason easily fits in the box - no separate sheet is necessary.
