Hello USCONGUZ,

 

If the blue slip is asking for both the beneficiary and the petitioner to provide proof of residence for the ex-husband and ex-wife. Then what other options are available if the ex isn't available or the ex just plain resuses to provide the documents.

 

Is a notarized letter explaining why he or she is unable to provide the required document acceptable?

Dear CFL,

 

The acceptability of alternate documents in lieu of a requested document can only be made on a case-by-case basis. However, in general, if applicants are unable to provide a requested a document, a statement regarding this can be submitted to the Consulate for informational purposes.
