rogerluli
It has been really hot in Yunnan this past week. 35 to 38 every day. Everyone is complaining about the heat so early this year. Well Don Yunnan is a very big place... You must mean way south and LOW...Up on the central plateau of Kunming and Yuxi it is only in the low 80s... B) I just looked it up and Yunnan's high is 6,740 m while the lowest point is 76 m...so a change in temp only requires a change in altitude..."changes in latitude, changes in altitude, changes in attitude"... or something like that... Don
Time to get SOAKED in Yunnan... http://www.cctv.com/program/cultureexpress...16/101747.shtml We cheated, last week we were staying at a hotel with a pool so we had our own water splashing festival. My wife and daughter always sent me many photos of people getting wet at the festival. The big fun for the boys was to find a toursit young woman to get completely wet. rogerluli
I vow to you all that this is... THE VERY LAST TIME... And anyway it isn't my fault...my wife did it... We had some hot, humid weather this past week and I was informed by laopo... that she couldn't possibly go to Hainan to live... So we have reopened the Yunnan option and will now be retring FOR SURE in Yuxi, Yunnan (if this ever changes you will also be reading that I have eviscerated myself with a grapefruit spoon on Don's front porch... ) Actually this makes more sense since we decided to spend the winters cruising on down the Mekong to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Singapore...http://www.gokunming.com/en/blog/tag/Asian+Development+Bank Trade with these ASEAN countries and China is exploding and Yunnan is the place it will be going through with new highways and raillines planned all over... Also Yunnan has been discovered as a great place to grow grapes for fine wines and American and Aussie wineries are dumping wads of cash into developing vineyards...So we can enjoy a fine Yunnan Cabernet with our sheepeshead stew... tsap seui
roGgiE, As a wisened old man once told me when I complained about the winter cold, once long ago and faraway..... My humble student I must tell you this.... When I am cold I can always put on enough clothes to make me comfortable When I am hotI cannot take off enough clothes to be comfortable While I would never try and influence another's mind on where to live in China, I can only politely say...screw HOT AND MUGGY. And screw it with somone else's "equipment" NOT mine!!! Life is too short to live in HOT AND MUGGY!!!! In China, the worst city I ever saw was HOT Filthy DIRTY Guangzhou. It would take $20,000USD per week to even begin to intice me to live south of Beijing in China. B) I'll come "stay in a hotel" and visit you in the wintertime, roGgiE. Otherwise, I'm up North, where the wimmin look the bestest and the air you breath isn't as hot as the tip of my handrolled, by Chairman Moe hisowndamnself, ceegars!! Vietnam was often 105 in the shade, but as a chopper pilot we could often escape to 2,500 feet (out of effective small arms range) as we flew ash and trash missions. Have fun floatin' down the big orange Mekong, I saw many interesting sights along the river banks as we flew north up the river in Cambodia, with our skids skimmin' the water. tsap seui Link to comment
