Question regarding fillable G-325A form

Recommended Posts

If someone has some advice, I really welcome it. I am completing my G-325A on the USCIS.GOV website PDF and under the question, "Applicant's last address outside of the United States..." I typed NONE, N/A, N/A, N/A and N/A for both month and year. However, the year field keeps defaulting to "0000". Not sure how to get past this. I know that a blank field must be either "NONE" or "N/A". Has this happened to anybody else?

Strange Try reloading the page. I checked the page and it is behaving normally. Also check to see if you have the newest version of adobe reader. The newest one is 7.08 Also leave the month and year blank on that line and just put none in the street box.

For my fiance I put her address there also, but on my form I wrote none on the address and left the dates blank.

Yes, i have the newest version and i also tried your link. if i put "N/A" in the year field under that particular question or if i tab through it, it will put "0000" under the year.

And I just tried it on my laptop (the other time was on my desktop) and again it defaulted to the 0000 for the year.

Again it is quite strange, I tested it on my windows PC running acrobat reader 7.08 and it dose not behave like that. I also tested it on a MAC running OS X Tiger, and PDF Preview opens it normally and dose not behave in that way, it leaves those fields blank when I tab through them. Yes, if one tabs through the year, the field will be blank. However, when I put "N/A" in the year field (I am under the impression that we should not leave any field blank) and tab to the next field, it will default to all 0's. I think I may have to type "N/A" in the month field, leave the Year field blank, print it out and hand write "N/A" in the year field.

It's a numeric validation, makes sure that you only put in numbers for a field that should be numeric (such as a year). Sometimes software people try to make stuff too smart. I think I ran into that when I used some of USCIS's fillable forms and tried to put N/A into date and number fields.

Just print it out and use a typewriter or handwrite it.

I have just decided to hand write it. It's a bit of a relief to know that others encountered this too.

Also, regarding the G-325A, near the bottom it states, "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" I checked the "other" box and put "k-1 visa" since my SO and I are engaged and not married. The original example form that I printed out from visa journey had "K-1 Visa". Now, their example form shows the other box checked and "I-129F Petition for Fiance". I would put that but my fiancee already typed "K-1 Visa" on her G-325 form. Will checking "other and putting K-1 Visa be allright?

I have a copy of "Fiance & Marriage Visas: A Couple's Guide to U.S. Immigration" published by NOLO http://www.nolo.com/product.cfm/ObjectID/E...610EDA/118/209/

On the page instructing about the US citizen's G-325A form on PAGE 5/15 it shows that line filled as N/A and leave the dates blank. This makes sense because the line is taken as a whole, if the address is marked N/A then there will be no dates leave them blank. The same applies to unused lines for prior addresses lines, if there were none the lines are also left blank.

I used this book when filling out these forms, and had no problems.

And yes check other, and I-129F petition for fiance.

A good example form to look at is here: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-G-325A.pdf

Thanks for the links. I have already been using the visajourney information and example forms. But thanks for the link to the guide as well. I will probably get this guide as I am just beginning this process. I try to read as much as i can about it. As I am sure we all do!

Another version of the form can be found here, the date fields are not number locked, but again I would just leave the date fields blank since they are related to the N/A on the same line.
