Going to the Dentist

Hello Gang

yeterday, we did the family dental appointment. I took my wife and our daughter. Daughter has to get one tooth pulled and 3 cavities filled. Wife needs some work done as well. But where the shock came in was when I explain to her what insurance covers and what it does not. She realized that going to the dentist here in America can be very expensive. Now she realize when I ask her to visit the dentist in China, I was not kidding..hahah Oh well She will need to get some work done this fall and spring and then when she goes to china next year, she can get some done for less cost.

Be careful Carl ... the quality of the dental work my wife had in China was terrible. I guess you can also get good dental work there but I would advise caution. Our daughter did get braces in China and that work seems to have been OK.

Depending on the location in China a Dentist may not use anything for pain management as well. My wife is happy to go to my dentist because he is so very careful to be sure it is as painless as possible. My wife also tried the local Chinese dentist in our town and told me she would not go back to her again.

 

My wife had an old bridge that was functional, but it appeared to have been made of extremely cheap material. The method of anchoring was not done well either and she ended up having one of the anchoring teeth removed because as the bridge flexed it had weakened the roots.

 

As Jim said, there are good dentists in China, but you have to be sure to find one. Otherwise you may end up paying more to correct the initial problem later.

I can't comment on the Dental service here (not having been to one for 45 years) but there are some very good Dentists in China. Like any service you need to get referrals and check around. My wife's dental work is great and was a tenth the cost of here. A friend's wife went to a Dentist here who said he was very impressed with the filling and cap she had done in China. He almost fell to the floor when he heard how little it cost. Like surgery it can pay to fly to China for major Dental work if youknow the right place.
