Petition to Repeal IMBRA

Recommended Posts

There has to be something better than IMBRA to protect women.

And before anyone jumps to any conclusions, let me state that I totally agree that a man should disclose his background checks. What I disagree about IMBRA, is a man has to disclose it everytime he says HI to a woman online. It should be disclose at marriage or visa time. IMBRA is over the line.

I found an online petition to repeal the new law:

I have mixed feelings about it. I hate to see those on CFL being delayed. But at the same time, I would prefer to see criminal background checks done on the USC to help prevent some of the scum bags out there bringing anyone over here to abuse and treat like an animal.

The beneficiary deserves to know if the man she plans on spending her life with has any extensive criminal records. Way too many wack-jobs around.

I agree, but I did some reading on the law. Supposedly, an American man has to disclose his background and other personal information when he simply says "Hi" for the first time to each and every woman.

I understand if they are getting married or applying for a visa.

But not for simply saying Hi. How many woman does a man talk to online before he meets 'the one'? I believe he has to disclose his info to each and every one.

Again, I agree something has to be done. But IMBRA goes way too far.

Just for saying "Hi"? wow, what nutjob came up with that idea?

Ok then I guess avoiding all of those type of websites would be best. I would assume places like match.com and other dating sites are safe from this law.

You would think that nothing has to be disclosed until you were getting ready to file.

Anyway how the hell are they gonna stop someone from saying "hello"?

I dunno. Supposedly, when a man signs up to an international dating site, he has to pre-provide all this info to the site. Then the site has to make it available to would be prospects.

This is not something the man does when applying for a visa or a marriage license. This is done right at the very beginning at the very first email. (At least, thats the way I understand it)

Heres another site: Citizens Against Dating Discrimination "CADD"

Here is a quote from that site:

“Most guys will say hi to 20 to 30 ladies before they meet the one that is right for them. The law is asking these guys to disclosure their background information to all 20 or 30 ladies before he gets to know her. If the lady is less then honorable she could use this information to try to get money from the guy by threatening that she will disclose this information throughout the internet.”

Yep I agree. Not a good idea. I would never disclose my personal info to anyone until I know I wanted to spend my life with her.

Ok how did my font just turn blue?

Yes, I agree with that. I think that should be a requirement. Afterall, we do get to see our SO's police report. So, for an american to show his background is ok.

I dont think anyone is against a man presenting his true colors, so to speak. Its just that a man has practically make it public info on the internet to total and complete strangers. This version of the law goes too far.
