"Second Name check"

This term is not an official term, but is more common among petitioners and beneficiaries. It implies a second name check and usually this coincides with the case being at the consulate. I want to ask a few questions to see if this is just a misnomer applied to what we see with the cases and hear about possible multiple name checks.

You have previously clarified that K# visas normally have a name check started by NVC, and that the CR1 cases must be received by the consulate to start any name check.

K1:

1) Is this NVC name check generally a standard K1 check or usually differs based on the case?

2) Is it customary for the consulate to have a [standard] set of it's own checks ?

a. Does the consulate [often] combine any checks to the NVC one?

b. Is it common for the consulate to start a separate check that is not combined with the NVC one (regardless if the results return together or not) ?

3) Does a K1/K2 case (if age appropriate) check usually slow down the K1 check, or they will come back separately?

4) If a K1/K2 only has one namecheck come back, will the P4 be sent out anyway or both checks must come back to issue the P4?

K3:

1) Is this NVC name check generally a standard K3 check or can differ based on the case?

2) Does it generally differ from the K1 check?

3) Does the consulate usually add something to the NVC check or have standard check it applies? If yes, at same timing of NVC check or after (when received) ?

4) Does NVC generally hold K3 cases till the name check is completed for ? [ A member was recently told by NVC that they were waiting for the results before sending the case to the consulate].

5) Does a K3/K4 case (if age appropriate) check usually slow down the K3 check, or they will come back separately?

6) If a K3/K4 only has one namecheck come back, will the P4 be sent out anyway or both checks must come back to issue the P4?

CR1:

1) Are there any NVC checks done for CR1 or only by the consulate?

2) Once the case is received by the consulate, is there a standard set of checks for the CR1 case?

3) Does a CR1/CR2 case (if age appropriate) check usually slow down the CR1 check, or they will come back separate?

4) If CR1/CR2 only has one namecheck come back, will the P4 be sent out anyway or both checks must come back to issue the P4?

I know some questions are redundant, but i wanted to make sure we separate out the visas... Thanks in advance.

Some of your questions have been dealt with in previous threads:

We understand that anything which could potentially delay an interview or visa approval will be the subject of much debate. But please be aware that the security namecheck process is sensitive. There is only so much we will discuss in a public (or private) forum.
