There are too many variables and potential obstacles to cause delays. As has already been mentioned, there are three Visa categories we tend to deal with here. We could probably give you some reasonably accurate range of time, if you would indicate the kind of visa you have in mind or have applied for. If you check the timelines at the link I gave you, then you'll see two cases transferred on dates near the date you mention. Both now have interview dates for late May and Early June. If there has been no information sent to the Chinese beneficiary from the Consulate then there may have been some delay. Also maybe not. The best I could tell you based on so little information is that the timing of this case does not seem to be out of the ordinary. Now that you mention it is a CR1, the 8 months would be an unusually short processing time. 8 months is not particularly unusual for a K visa. Link to comment
warpedbored Posted May 10, 2006 Report Share Posted May 10, 2006 It generally takes at least 4 weeks to be delivered to the consulate once it arrives in China. 6 weeks to 2 months from the time it arrives in China before P-3 is sent. Fill out the forms and get them back to GZ ASAP. There are only X number of interview slots in a given month. As an example mikem's wife (then fiancee) and my wife both got their P-3 the same day. Mike's wife sent hers back 4 days earlier than mine. She got a March 8th interview while Bing got April 13th. Once P-3 is in the P-4 can take anywhere from 2 months on depending on name checks and back logs. If she has a common last name it may take longer than if she doesn't. Good luck. Link to comment

The beneficiary can check with the Department of State to find out if the name check is completed but the first package they receive is the P4. Link to comment

Inxsfan Posted May 10, 2006 Report Share Posted May 10, 2006 originally i met my now wife online while living in ohio when we got serious about our relationship and i knew there would be a possibility to bring her here i moved to virginia because ohio k1 apps go through the nebraska service center and it would have taken 10 to 14 months to get her here so i moved to virginia and went through the vermont service center which took only 2 weeks to go from p1 to p2. which was a smart move for me because nebraska had a back log of 2 to 4 months going from p1 to p2 so 8 months is a good guess for a 8 month timeline but it also depends on which service center processes your k1 app.does nebraska have this long back log still?????? anyone know? CR1: (From NVC Sent to GUZ to IV)about 8 months this year appears to have gotten longer for some CR1s... namecheck delays and then some have talked about GUZ delaying interviews when a CR2 is also involved...
