When can we receive a green card

My wife has been here for over 3 weeks on an IR-1 visa. So far we have received nothing from the USCIS as yet since her arrival. I read somewhere the entry into the States will trigger the issuance a green card. When should we expect to receive her green card? I also read something like a welcome letter that we did not receive either. Anyway, if we do not receive it, is there a number we can call to check the processing of her card?

Received the green card yesterday......yeheeeeey.

 

My guess is that IR1 takes longer to received their green card as it is a 10yr card, than the CR1 as it has an expiration date that lasts for 2 yrs.

 

My friend entered US in April 6 thru California, and the Officer told her that her green card will take about 6 months. She is an IR1.
