Notarial Certificates, level of notarization.

Recommended Posts

Dear GUZ IV Unit.

2 weeks ago while at her interview, my SO's girlfriend saw the VO's giving out blue slips for this:

K1 visa interviews we being told that the "city level notarizations" for the birth certificate, divorce decree, and singles certificate were no longer being accepted. That they had to go back home and then get them notarized again, but at the "provincial level".

All of these had been completed in the standard white book, official red seal, English translation, and attest to the true translation, but had been notarized at the "city level' of the large towns where they lived, not at the capital of their Province.

My question is this:

Is this a new practice to only accept those official documents that have been notarized at the provincial level?

Or, is the city level notarization of these documents still accepted?

Thank you in advance for your time.

As long as the notary office is authorized to perform notary services concerning foreign affairs, we will usually accept it. We most often see notarials from provincial level offices with the standard white book, official red seal, English translation, and which attest to the true translation. We will look into this question further and post another message with any updates.
