Administrative Processing

When we contact GZ checking our cases, sometime we will get the reply such as 'the case under administrative processing', what does that mean? Is every case has a administrative processing stage or only those who have a 'hit' in the security clearance need the administrative processing? Usually how long it will take? Thanks!

"Administrative processing" is more or less a catch all phrase we can use for many things.
