pkfops
Just Got A RFE for my I-864. They want W-2 and return for most recent tax year. They want an Employment Letter. These were in the packet that I sent but I will resend andalso include an IRS transcript to make them happy. Also included was a note saying that my wife was ineligible for employment until 90 days after I submit the "missing" evidence. Did I just throw away $$$$ on the EAD? Link to comment
david_dawei
um... sounds strange how EAD would be dependent on any of that evidence since none of that is needed to file EAD... Maybe it's a canned response to concurrent filers getting an RFE. I would be inclined to call NBC and ask someone to explain it.. A number should be on your NOA1 (?) Link to comment
pkfops
Most likley the employment thing is a canned response as it is inthe preceeding paragraphs before the requested informationis specified. I thought it would be best for me to give myself a cooling offperiod and order the certified transcripts from the IRS (about 10 days to process) before I fire off and send them my last originalcopy of my W2s. Perhaps we were singled out for hoop jumping. I'll give them a call and see what's up. Link to comment
pkfops
Just got of the phone with USCIS. They told me if I had submitted the documentsthat are being requested, it is probably becausethey were misplaced. They also said to state they were in the originalsubmission in my return letter. Good thing I made five complete packets. I'll get these out in the mail today and get the ballrolling again. Good suggestion David. Link to comment
david_dawei
W2s are not needed... unless you filed jointly on previous years and need to clearly show your financial portion of the tax return. If it is required to send them, I guess I'll get an RFE soon enough --- Can you clarify how to packaged the petition: - Acco fasterners, clips or what ? - tabs at bottom ?- a cover letter ? For the photos I left them in the "passport photo" envelope and droppedthat into a sheet protector. I also used a sheet protector for the I-693. Then I used the ACCO Fastners and attached everything to a file folder.EAD on the left and AOS on the right with the cover letter on top. Here's the cover letter I used from this site: XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXLivermore, California 94550 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration ServicesP.O. david_dawei
how could they misplace anything is beyond me.. sounds like you gave them everything... I did the sheet protectors as well... My I-864 supporting docs were listed on separate lines in my cover letter (and I used tabs). I had three years of tax transcripts (actually, I did this for the interview).. I just didn't want to risk any question as to the copying of the tax returns... ( I tend to think this is really a best practice, but more a gut feel than evidential...) Link to comment

When I was on the phone with USICS, I asked if a photo copy ofmy W2 was OK since I am down to only 1 original and I did not want to give that up. I was told that photo copies are OK and bring originals to the interview for comparison. Edited January 16, 2006 by pkfops (see edit history) Link to comment
