george lee Posted May 4, 2012 Report Share Posted May 4, 2012 another favorite dish i make at home is pasta and anchovies.... 5 cloves of minced garlic1/2 can of anchovies or more if you like it very satlyadd olive oil, garlic and anchovies into sauce panmed heat, stir until anchovies are meltedpour to pasta and mix oh yeah this dish costs 14 dollars in little itatly, nyc. diy = 3 - 4 dollars? A little spicey but we're worth it!Ingredients4 slices bacon, diced... 2 pounds Italian sausage, removed from casings and crumbled2 cups finely chopped red onions1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Cajun spice1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes2 tablespoons minced garlic2 bay leaves8 cups chopped, seeded tomatoes6 cups chicken stock2 cups medium size shellsSalt and freshly ground black pepper1/2 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro leavesCrusty bread, for servingDirectionsCook the bacon in a medium pot over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Add the sausage and cook with the bacon until browned, about 5 minutes more. Add the onions and Essence and cook, stirring often, until the onions are softened, about 5 minutes.Add the crushed red pepper and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the bay leaves, tomatoes, and chicken stock and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add shells and cook for 10-12 minutes.Season, to taste, with salt and black pepper. Stir in the cilantro, ladle into warm soup bowls, Link to comment
